Metropolitan Region Scheme Amendment 1344/57 Maida Vale Urban Precinct - Environmental Review

Closed 28 Nov 2023

Opened 29 Sep 2023

Overview

The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) intends to amend the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS) for land in the City of Kalamunda and is seeking public comment.

The amendment proposes to rezone approximately 177.53 ha of land in Maida Vale from the ‘Rural’ zone to the ‘Urban Deferred’ zone in the MRS.

The proposed ‘Urban Deferred’ zone will facilitate future residential and areas of public open space, following the lifting of ‘Urban Deferment’, a local scheme amendment, detailed structure planning and subdivision approval under the Planning and Development Act 2005.

The Environmental Protection Authority required the proposed MRS amendment to be formally assessed under Division 3 Part IV of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 Act (Assessment No. 2175). An Environmental Review Document (ERD) (with technical appendices) has been prepared to examine the likely environmental impacts of the amendment if implemented and puts forward proposed environmental mitigation and management measures.

The ERD (with technical appendices) is being advertised concurrently with the MRS amendment and planning documentation so that comment can be made on both environmental and planning relation matters.

The ERD may be downloaded from the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage website here www.dplh.wa.gov.au/mrs-amendments.

Copies of the ERD will also be available for examination at the Western Australian Planning Commission 140 William Street Perth, and as advised on the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage website.
