Mesa H Proposal (Revision to Mesa J Iron Ore Development) - Public Environmental Review

Overview

Robe River Mining Co. Pty. Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of the Rio Tinto Group) is proposing to extend the life of and eventually replace the Mesa J Iron Ore Development through the development of a new iron ore deposit at Mesa H, located to the west of the existing mine. The proposal is located approximately 16 kilometres south west of Pannawonica in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The proposal will require mine dewatering, surplus water management and an additional 2200 hectares of clearing to facilitate development of above and below water table mine pits and associated infrastructure.
