Mount Gibson Gold Project - Public Environmental Review

Overview

Crimson Metals Pty Ltd is proposing to develop the Mount Gibson Gold Project, located approximately 280 kilometres (km) northeast of Perth and less than 10 km east from the Great Northern Highway, in the Avon Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. Substantial mining occurred in the 1980’s and 1990’s and as a result, historical disturbance and infrastructure remain in the area.

The proposal comprises the re-opening and expansion of existing open cut mines, use of existing infrastructure where practicable, and development of a new gold processing plant and associated infrastructure. The proposal is estimated to process six million tonnes per annum of ore over a 15 year mine life.

An Environmental Review Document (ERD) has been prepared by Crimson Metals Pty Ltd in accordance with Environmental Protection Authority procedures and is released for public review. 

The ERD describes the proposal, examines the likely environmental effects and the proposed environmental management procedures associated with the proposed development.
