Pinjarra Alumina Refinery Revised Proposal, and Bauxite Mining on the Darling Range in the Southwest of WA for the years 2023 to 2027 - Public Environmental Review(s)

Overview

Alcoa of Australia Limited’s (Alcoa’s) Pinjarra Alumina Refinery Revised Proposal is an expansion into future mining regions of Myara North, Holyoake and O’Neil and the increase in alumina production at the Pinjarra Refinery until 2045. 

It is separate to the assessment of Alcoa’s Bauxite Mining on the Darling Range in the Southwest of WA for the years 2023 to 2027 proposal which expands mining areas at Huntly which supplies Pinjarra and Kwinana refineries, and Willowdale which supplies Wagerup refinery. This short-term proposal is for a time period not exceeding the year 2027.

Environmental Review Documents (ERDs) for both proposals have been prepared by Alcoa and are released for simultaneous public review.

The ERDs describe the proposals, examine the likely environmental effects and the proposed environmental management procedures associated with the proposed developments.
