Yanchep Rail Extension: Part 1 – Butler to Eglinton - Referral Information with Additional Information

Overview

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) proposes to extend the existing Joondalup railway line by 7.3 kilometres from Butler Station to the suburb of Eglinton in the City of Wanneroo. The proposal is to construct and operate the rail extension and includes two new intermodal (rail, bus, ‘park and ride’, ‘kiss and ride’, walk and cycle) transit stations at Alkimos and Eglinton.

The PTA will operate train services between Perth and Eglinton Stations and bus services from the Alkimos and Eglinton Stations.

The proposal will require the clearing and disturbance of 70.22 hectares, including 1.12 hectares of the Melaleuca huegeliiM. acerosa (M. systena) shrublands on limestone ridges Threatened Ecological Community 26a.

The Level of Assessment was set as Referral Information with Additional Information (4 week public review). The additional information was required to provide contextual information of the environmental values present within and immediately surrounding the proposal area; clarify impacts to subterranean and short-range endemic fauna; provide details of environmental management measures and/or plans for the key environmental factors; and detail the proposed environmental offsets for the potentially significant residual impacts.

The referral information has been revised and additional information prepared by the PTA and is released for public review for four weeks commencing 17 December 2018 and closing 18 January 2019.
