Environmental Assessment Guideline for Environmental Offsets
Overview
The draft Environmental Assessment Guideline for Environmental Offsets is now open for public consultation until 21 December 2012.
Why your views matter
This guideline sets out the requirement for proponents to consider the need for environmental offsets as part of its assessment of the impacts of a proposal. The EPA’s overarching objective related to environmental offsets is to counterbalance any significant residual environmental impact and risks through the application of offsets.
The EPA is currently inviting comments on the draft guideline and will incorporate the feedback into the final version for release in 2013.
Until finalised, the current EPA policies (Position Statement 9, Guidance Statement 19 and Environmental Protection Bulletin 1) still apply.
