The EPA determined that the proposal would not be assessed, and provided public advice. The proposal can be managed to meet the EPA's objectives and requires an EP Act clearing permit and mining proposal under the Mining Act.

Overview

Golden West Resources Limited proposes to develop a 10Mtpa iron ore mining operation at Wiluna West. The Project is located approximately 700 kilometres north-east of Perth and 40 kilometres south-west of Wiluna.

What happens next

Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.

The Chairman's decisions on level of assessment are released each Monday on the EPA's website.
