Overview

Apache Northwest Pty Ltd propose to extend their infrastructure on Varanus Island. This project involves the installation of two Solar Mars 100 gas turbine compressors, Centaur 40 power generator, pipe rack, equipment room, as well as supporting infrastructure and services including accommodation camp upgrade, wharf upgrades, construction of a kitchen/mess cyclone refuge, upgrade of concrete batching plant and bulk earthworks.

What happens next

Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied. The Chairman's decisions on level of assessment are released each Monday on the EPA's website.
