The EPA considers that the proposal is unlikely to have a significant effect on the environment and does not warrant formal assessment. The potential impacts can be adequately managed to meet the EPA's objectives through the implementation of the proponent's environmental monitoring and management plan and regulated through other statutory processes.
Overview
Albany Port Authority proposes to undertake maintenance dredging within their basin and entrance channel to maintain navigable depths.
What happens next
Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.
The Chairman's decisions on level of assessment are released each Monday on the EPA's website.
