Overview

Kalium Lakes Potash Pty Ltd has requested consent from the Environmental Protection Authority under section 41A(3) of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 to undertake work it considers to be minor or preliminary in nature. The purpose of the works is to upgrade existing infrastructure that was developed during the investigations phase of the project.

The work includes the following:

- Site access road upgrade.

- Upgrade and expansion of the accommodation camp from 16 to 100 rooms.

- Upgrade of workshops.

- Communications towers to be upgraded from temporary to permanent structures.

The above works involve disturbing approximately 44.5 hectares of native vegetation.

What happens next

Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.
