Binduli North Gold Mine
Overview
Norton Gold Fields Pty Ltd propose to develop the Binduli North Project located approximately ten kilometres west of the city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
The proposal includes the expansion of three existing open pits, the development of a new open pit, waste rock dumps, run of mine pads, a heap leach processing facility, processing plant infrastructure and supporting mine infrastructure.
The proposal has a disturbance footprint of 924.2 ha which includes 270.1 ha of previously disturbed land and a 1,653.7 ha development envelope.
The project is expected to have a mine life of approximately 9 years.
Why your views matter
At this initial stage of the EIA process, comment is simply sought on whether or not the EPA should assess a proposal and, if so, what level of assessment is considered appropriate.
What happens next
Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.
The EPA's decisions on level of assessment are released each Monday on the EPA's website.
