Groundwater Replenishment Scheme Stage 2
Overview
The Water Corporation is proposing to duplicate the existing Advanced Water Recycling Plant (AWRP) at the Beenyup facility in Craigie. The proposal also includes the construction of two water recharge sites and pipeline infrastructure along a 12.8 km route through the suburbs of Woodvale, Wanneroo, Ashby and Neerabup to recharge approximately 14 GL of recycled water to the Leederville and Yarragadee aquifers.
The proposal forms Stage 2 of the Perth Groundwater Replenishment Scheme (GRWS) with the expansion of 14 GL per annum to Stage 1 of the GWRS, resulting in a total recharge to the Leederville and Yarragadee aquifers of approximately 28 GL per annum.
Why your views matter
At this initial stage of the EIA process, comment is simply sought on whether or not the EPA should assess a proposal and, if so, what level of assessment is considered appropriate.

What happens next
Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.
The Chairman's decisions on level of assessment are released each Monday on the EPA's website.
