Minara Resources Pty Ltd (Minara) propose to undertake a program of grade control drilling across the southern portion of the Irwin Hills Project, located approximately 85 kilometres (km) south-east of Laverton and approximately 120 km south-east of the existing Murrin Murrin Nickel Cobalt Project, Western Australia.

The proposal would consist of clearing 312 hectares (ha) of native vegetation and utilise 29 ha of existing disturbance within a proposed 935 ha development envelope.

The life of the proposal is estimated to be 3.5 years and would comprise clearing and access road construction, grade control drilling, and rehabilitation and closure activities.

Why your views matter

At this initial stage of the EIA process, comment is simply sought on whether or not the EPA should assess a proposal and, if so, what level of assessment is considered appropriate.

What happens next

Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.

The EPA's decisions on level of assessment are released each Monday on the EPA's website.
