Opened 3 May 2019

Overview

The proposal aims to reduce the flow of high salinity river water entering Wellington Dam and improve the quality of dam water for irrigated agriculture in the Collie and Myalup irrigation districts.

The proposal is to construct a weir, pump stations and pipeline infrastructure and take saline water from the Collie River East Branch of the Upper Collie River, construct and operate a reverse osmosis Water Treatment Plant and supply desalinated water to the Water Corporation via Harris River Dam.

Why your views matter

At this initial stage of the EIA process, comment is simply sought on whether or not the EPA should assess a proposal and, if so, what level of assessment is considered appropriate.

What happens next

Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.

The EPA's decisions on level of assessment are released each Monday on the EPA's website.
