Opened 15 Jul 2025

Overview

The proposal is for the continuation and expansion of existing operations at the Newmont Boddington Mine which is located approximately 12km northwest of Boddington and 130km southeast of Perth.

The proposal is a significant amendment to the existing proposal approved under Ministerial Statement 971 and comprises additional footprint for the safe construction and operation of the future tailings dam RDA2. The proposal also includes a range of other activities including but not limited to bauxite preservation and stockpiling as required, expansion of the access road from Albany Hwy and potential discharge of treated water to the Hotham River.

Altogether the proposal would increase the clearing of native vegetation by 528 ha to 5,963 ha and overall disturbance by 1,560 ha to 8,483 ha.

The mine life is proposed to be extended by 5 years to 2046.
