Overview

Australian Gold Reagents Pty Ltd propose to increase production at the existing Kwinana sodium cyanide liquid plant from 91,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) to a total of 110,000 tpa;  and to increase production of solid sodium cyanide from 45,000 tpa up to 60,000 tpa.

The proposal also includes connecting the two existing thermal combustion units to allow waste gas from either plant during down time to be directed through a combined header to the operational thermal combustion unit for effective management of waste gas.

The Sodium Cyanide Facility is located within the CSBP Kwinana Industrial Complex in the Kwinana Industrial Area, approximately 40 kilometres south of Perth.

Why your views matter

At this initial stage of the EIA process, comment is simply sought on whether or not the EPA should assess a proposal and, if so, what level of assessment is considered appropriate.

What happens next

Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.

The EPA's decisions on level of assessment are released each Monday on the EPA's website.
