Overview

The Department of Transport is proposing to build a new boating facility about 300 metres south of Tantabiddi Creek, located in the Ningaloo Marine Park, the Jurabi Coastal Park and the Ningaloo Coast National and World Heritage Areas, near Exmouth. 

The proposed new facility would replace the existing boat ramp at Tantabiddi Creek, and involves:  

  • dredging of the harbour basin and entrance channel 

  • land reclamation and vegetation clearing 

  • construction of breakwaters, revetments, boat ramps, jetties, wharfs, fishing platform, parking and public amenities 

  • decommissioning rehabilitation of the the existing boat ramp facility.

Why your views matter

At this initial stage of the EIA process, comment is simply sought on whether or not the EPA should assess a proposal and, if so, what level of assessment is considered appropriate.

What happens next

Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.

The EPA's decisions on level of assessment are released each Monday on the EPA's website.
