Xanadu-1 Conventional Onshore Oil Well

Overview

Norwest Energy NL proposes to develop a conventional onshore oil well to assist with designing future drilling programs, and further refine the structural detail of the Xanadu-1 deposit.

The proposal is located on the coast, approximately 42 kilometres south of Geraldton, in the Shire of Irwin.

The proposal requires clearing of 4.5 hectares of native vegetation, which is also fauna habitat, for the construction of a well pad and access roads.

Why your views matter

At this initial stage of the EIA process, comment is simply sought on whether or not the EPA should assess a proposal and, if so, what level of assessment is considered appropriate.

What happens next

Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.
