Ravensthorpe Nickel Project Revised Proposal - change to proposal under s.43A

Overview

First Quantum Minerals Australian Nickel Pty Ltd (FQMAN) is proposing to amend their proposal (Assessment 2100) during assessment to expand the existing extent of the Southern Mine and Processing area to accommodate an extension of their Tailing Storage Facility (TSF), known as TSF 3, provision for additional evaporation pond area, and provision for additional topsoil storage area.

The proposal is located 35km East of Ravensthorpe.

The referred proposal was previously published for public environmental review on 11 April 2022 for a period of six weeks and is pending FQMAN response to submissions and EPA assessment.

A Supporting Information Document (SID) has been prepared by FQMAN for the proposed amendment in accordance with Environmental Protection Authority guidance and was released for public review on April 11, 2022.

The SID describes the amendment to the proposal, examines the likely environmental effects and how it can be incorporated into the current proposal assessment.

The EPA is seeking public input on the proposed amendment and whether it should be approved and assessed as part of the referred proposal.
