Winu Project - Public Environmental Review
Overview
Winu Services Pty Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of Rio Tinto Limited) is proposing to develop the Winu Project (the proposal). The proposal is a new copper-gold mine located approximately 300 kilometres (km) south of Broome and 320 km east of Port Hedland in the northern Pilbara region of Western Australia.
An Environmental Review Document (ERD) has been prepared by Winu Services Pty Ltd in accordance with Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) procedures and is released for public review.
The ERD describes the proposal, examines the likely environmental effects and the proposed environmental management procedures associated with the proposed development.
The ERD is available for download from https://epa.wa.gov.au/proposals/winu-project under 3. Assessment > Environmental Review.
The document is also available on the proponent’s website at http://www.riotinto.com/winu.
