The EPA determined that the proposal would not be assessed as potential impacts could be effectively managed under Part V Division 2 of the EP Act (Clearing).
Overview
Alinta Energy Transmission (Roy Hill) Pty Ltd intends to build and operate a 220kV power supply interconnection from its existing Newman Power Station north through the Pilbara Region of Western Australia. The northern terminus of the transmission line will be at a new 220kV / 66kV substation the Roy Hill Mine.
What happens next
Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.
The Chairman's decisions on level of assessment are released each Monday on the EPA's website.
