Overview

FQM Australia Nickel Pty Ltd proposes to change and expand its Ravensthorpe Nickel Operations near Bandalup Hill currently approved under Ministerial Statement 633 as follows:

-Expand Hale-Bopp mining operations by approximately 29 hectares into the Kunzea similis ssp. mediterranea Community Conservation Area.
-Revise the alignment of the infrastructure corridor between the Shoemaker-Levy ore body and the processing area.
-Incorporate neutralised tailings to the reject rocks used to backfill mine pits and re-establish hill topographies.

Why your views matter

At this initial stage of the EIA process, comment is simply sought on whether or not the EPA should assess a proposal and, if so, what level of assessment is considered appropriate.

What happens next

Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.
