The EPA determined not to assess the proposal as it considers that the likely environmental effects of the proposal are not so significant as to warrant formal assessment. The EPA also notes that the potential impacts can be managed and mitigated by the proponent's mitigation measures, and dealt with by other statutory processes. Public advice was provided.
Overview
Doyles Lime Service Pty Ltd proposes limestone and sand excavation approximately 4.5 km north of the Preston Beach townsite, Shire of Waroona.
What happens next
Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.
The Chairman's decisions on level of assessment are released each Monday on the EPA's website.
