Griffin Coal Containerised Coal Export Project Berth 5, Bunbury Port, Bunbury
Overview
The proponent is proposing to export up to 1.25 million tonnes per annum of coal from Berth 5 of the Bunbury Port inner harbour. Coal will be loaded into containers at the Ewington mine site at Collie and transported by rail to the Picton Container Terminal. Containers will then be transported by truck from the Picton Terminal to Bunbury Port on a 24 hour basis via the Port Access Road. The coal containers will be stacked on a designated hardstand area and loaded onto vessels for export every 10-11 days.
What happens next
Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.
