Wodgina Lithium Project Expansion

Overview

The proposal is an expansion of the existing Wodgina Lithium Project located approximately 110 km south of Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The proposal involves development of new and expansion of existing mine infrastructure allowing operations to continue for an anticipated life of mine of approximately 19 years from 2028 (until 2047). The proposal includes the expansion of an existing pit, waste rock landform amalgamation, construction of a new tailings storage facility, Run-of-Mine Pad expansion, installation of a solar farm and associated transmission infrastructure, construction of an accommodation camp, and associated ancillary and supporting infrastructure.

The proposal has an Indicative Disturbance Footprint of 616.7 ha and is located within a 7,362 ha Development Envelope. The proposal requires up to 617 ha of native vegetation clearing.

What happens next

Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.
