Overview

Pilbara Maine Pty Ltd proposes to develop and operate the Anderson Point Tug Haven facility which would be situated adjacent to Fortescue Metals Group's existing Herb Elliot Port Facility, Port Hedland.

The proposal includes the dredging and onshore disposal of approximately 0.8 Mm3 of material and the construction of a piled structure with floating pontoons and tug pens.  There would also be an onshore component that utilises previously disturbed land.

What happens next

Following the seven day public comment period and consideration of any comments received, the EPA will decide whether or not this proposal requires environmental impact assessment and, if so, what level of assessment will be applied.
